SAG2019: India on top, Sri Lanka remains 3rd

Sri Lanka has consolidated its third place standing in the 2019 South Asia Games medals table after winning 36 gold medals in Nepal.

The penultimate day of the competition that commenced on the 1st of December will be worked off in Kathmandu and Pokhara today.

Sri Lanka has won an impressive tally of 197 medals so far in the competition.

The Lankan contingent secured gold medals in Taekwondo, Athletics, Triathlon, Wushu, Weightlifting, Swimming, Golf, Badminton, Judo and Beach Volleyball events.

Meanwhile, India has secured a commanding lead with 252 medals including 132 gold, 79 silver and 41 bronze medals.

Hosts Nepal is placed second in the table with 45 gold, 44 silver and 76 bronze medals.

Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives and Bhutan occupy the remaining places in the 2019 South Asian Games medals table.

The closing ceremony of the Games is scheduled to be held tomorrow in Kathmandu.
