SAG2019: Sri Lanka secures 20 gold medals on day 6

Sri Lanka secured 20 gold medals at the 2019 South Asia Games in Nepal on day six.
Sri Lanka has won 120 medals at the games in total, including 20 gold, 39 silver and 61 bronze medals and is placed third in the medals tally.
Sri Lanka has thus far secured medals in Athletics, Karate, Volleyball, Taekwondo, Badminton and Wushu events.
Tharika Silva claimed a gold in the Women’s Shot Putt event while the Women’s relay team secured a gold medal in the 4x100M event with a timing of 44.89 sec.
Earlier today Nilani Ratnayake claimed a gold medal in the Women’s 5,000M event and Madu Kaushalya claimed a silver in the 400M Women’s Hurdle event.
Samith Madushanka claimed bronze in the Men’s Shot Putt event.
Sri Lanka men set a South Asian Games record of 39.14 seconds in the Men’s 4x100M relay event.
India is currently dominating the medal tally at the 2019 South Asian Games with 72 golds.
They have also won 53 silvers and 25 bronze medals.
The host nation, Nepal has won 37 gold medals so far and is placed second in the medals tally.
Pakistan, Bangladesh and Maldives are placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Bhutan with six bronze medals is placed at the foot of the 2019 South Asia Games Medals Table.
