Newly appointed One-Day International Captain Lahiru Thirimanne says despite concerns raised by a number of players, he is satisfied with the security situation in Pakistan.
Thirimanne said Sri Lanka Cricket had presented a security plan and after consultation with his family, he is focused on leading the ODI set-up during the Pakistan tour.
Thirimanne is also is hopeful that the visitors will do well in Pakistan despite the absence of regulars.
Speaking to Gulf News, Thirimanne, “We still have a good team. I believe if we play to our potential we can do very well.”
The Sri Lankan team is set to travel to country next week, albeit the top players will be missing tour.
While Thirimanne will lead Sri Lanka in ODIs, Dasun Shanaka will captain the visitors in the T20I series.
He will perform the duties in absence of Lasith Malinga, who retired from ODIs after a game against Bangladesh earlier this year.
