Sri Lanka ends Day Three on a high

Sri Lanka was on 156/2 at stumps on Day Three of the First Test against England at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka now trail by only 130 runs after a solid 101-run stand for the first wicket from Kusal Janith Perera and Lahiru Thirimanne.
Thirimanne remained unbeaten on 76 at stumps with night-watchman Lasith Embuldeniya yet to get off the mark.
Perera who scored 62 combined with Thirimanne to help erase the deficit in quick succession after England posted a mammoth 421 in their first essay.
Kusal Mendis was the other batsman to be dismissed for 15.
Earlier Skipper Joe Root top scored with 228 while debutant Dan Lawrence ably supported his captain with a 150-ball 73.
Jonny Bairstow scored 47 while Jos Buttler hit 30 runs during the first innings of the visitors.
For Sri Lanka, Dilruwan Perera had the best returns with 4/109 while Lasith Embuldeniya picked up three wickets conceding 176 runs.
Paceman Asitha Fernand had figures of 2/44. Sri Lanka was bundled out for a paltry 135 after opting to bat first on the opening day.
Skipper Dinesh Chandimal top scored with 28 while Angelo Mathews made 27.
The penultimate day of the test match will get underway at 10 tomorrow morning.
