Sri Lanka out of Women’s World Cup Qualifier


South African women ended Sri Lanka’s hopes of securing a final berth for the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier after a 9 wicket win during the 4th Super Six encounter, at the P Sara Oval Grounds this evening.

The Lankans after opting to bat first managed only 142 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs.

Nipuni Hansika top scored for the Lankans with 48 off 86 deliveries. Hansini Perera contributed 26 to the total.

Suné Luus picked up 3 wickets for 40 runs for the visitors. In response, the South Africans made short work of the target scoring 145 in 36.1 overs.

Luus completed an impressive all round performances by scoring an unbeaten 50 off 70 deliveries.

Laura Wolvaardt also scored an unbeaten 50 while Lizelle Lee scored a better than run a ball 35 runs.

Sri Lanka Women will take on the Bangladesh Women at NCC on Sunday while South Africa will take on Ireland also on Sunday at the CCC Grounds.
