Kusal Mendis made 45, while Dilruwan Perera and Kaushal Silva made thirties.

For England spinners Moeen Ali and Jack Leach picked up four and three wickets respectively.

Yesterday, after scoring 322 for 6, the English made the declaration and set the hosts a daunting target, but Sri Lanka could only muster 250 in 83.1 overs.

Sri Lanka in their first innings scored 203 while the English managed 342.

Speaking during the post-match presentation, England captain Joe Root credited the entire for adapting to difficult conditions in Galle.

He also hailed Jos Buttler and Ben Foakes for taking the game to Sri Lankan batters.

Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal once again lamented on the batting failure and said the team must improve in all-departments.
