United National Party Parliamentarian Ajith P Perera says a motion will be tabled in Parliament next Wednesday calling for the appointment of party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to be appointed Prime Minister.
Speaking at a media breifing at the Temple Trees this morning MP Perera said the motion will be present by Deputy Leader of the UNP MP Sajith Premadasa and seven other Parliamentarians.
He said the group will table a motion in Parliament on the 12th of December calling for Ranil Wickremesinghe to be appointed Prime Minister, adding the United National Party and the United National Front are 100% of the same stance.
Perera stressed Ranil Wickremesinghe should be appointed Prime Minister when the situation settles.
He noted the motion will be presented by Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa.
The MP said Sajith Premadasa, Ranil Wickremesinghe and the leaders of the UNF are of one stance as to how this problem should be resolved, adding there are no divisions.
He remarked the President is calling for the group to appoint someone else, yet Perera defiantly stressed only Ranil Wickremesinghe will be the PM.
He also noted the President claimed he would never grant Ranil Wickremesinghe the post of Prime Minister even if he has the support of all 225 MPs.
Ajith Perera stressed if the President insists on working arbitrarily, then the group will take to the streets with the power of the people in order to reach a decision.
