Aravinda to appear before Investigation Unit

Former National Cricket captain Aravinda De Silva has been requested to appear before the Special Investigation Division of the Ministry of Sports to record a statement pertaining fixing claims recently made by Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
Speaking to NewsRadio, Director of the Division Senior Superintendent of Police Jagath Fonseka said Former Chairman of Selectors De Silva has been requested to appear before the Division at 10.00 am on Tuesday.
Recently, Former Minister of Sports Mahindanada Aluthgamage revealed that the 2011 Cricket World Cup final between Sri Lanka and India was fixed without providing any evidence.
Aravinda De Silva was the Chairman of the National Selection Committee during the Cricket World Cup period.
SSP Fonseka said since De Silva was part of the set-up during the World Cup in question, he was requested to appear before the Division to record a statement.
He added that the Division is hoping to complete the investigation into the fixing claims made by the Former Sports Minister and direct the report to the Attorney General for further action.
