NPC calls for report on Angulana Police shooting

The National Police Commission has called for a report on the Police shooting in Angulana on Saturday that resulted in the death of a civilian.
Secretary of the Commission Nishantha Weerasinghe speaking to NewsRadio said the request for a report was directed to the Acting Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne today in writing.
Weerasinghe said the Police Commission called for a report verbally on Saturday.
The Police Commission said it will issue recommendations once the report submitted by the Acting IGP is evaluated.
A 39-year-old fisherman died in Police gunfire on Saturday morning in Angulana.
His final rites will be performed this evening. The individual’s post-mortem examination revealed he was shot in the head.
A Police Sergeant, a Constable and a Constable Driver were interdicted over the incident.
